Tag 11 / Day 11

Philadelphia

The last day of my Eastcoast Tour or Original Colonies Tour. Today I drove to Philadelphia. Philadelphia has a huge historical relevance because the Declaration of Independence was proclaimed and the Constitution was decided here. To this you can see a lot at the Independence Hall. The Independence Hall belongs to the Independence National Historical Park as also other historical buildings like the Congress Hall, the Second Bank of the U.S. or the building where the Liberty Bell stands in. This bell was rung in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was read in public. She has a characteristic crack which was accrued sometime and made her useless.

To do a tour at the Indenpendence Hall you need to pick a free ticket at the Visitor Center. It is not uncommon that you have to wait more than 3 hours for the tour. I also had to wait almost 3 hours.

But the Liberty Bell is not included in this tour. Here you need to wait at the Liberty Bell Pavilion. I didn't do that because we had almost 100 °F and you had to wait in the sun. But I could see the bell through a window and could take a picture. Not pretty nice but ok. 😁

After I was completely sweat-soaked again I got to my hotel. On the way I stopped at Pat's King of Steak, the founders of the Philly Cheesesteak and bought me one. It was tasty. But it didn't swept me off my feet but you should try it when you're here in Philly. You can choose between several versions.

Who knows the Rocky movies and like them must visit Philly, because Rocky was filmed here and you can find some landmarks of the movie like the stairs Rocky run up and down. I've never seen the movies and so I didn't want to see these things. But Philly was an experience because it has written history and you can see and feel it. Optically Philly wasn't pretty beautiful in my eyes. At least the Areas I drove through. The historic district is pretty beautiful. There you can find almost every historic sights. With this my journey is almost over. Tomorrow I'll drive to the airport in New York and at 5:05 pm my flight will start with airberlin back to Germany. I hope with my luggage this time.

Neverless I'm looking forward to come back home.

Thank you very much for the virtual travel with me!!
