Tag 5 / Day 5

Keine Ahnung. Pünklichkeit auf der Linie? Hmmm.... Eher nein. Zuverlässigkeit was die einzelnen Stopps laut Plan angeht? Hmmm.... Klares Nein.

Today at the second last day of my vacation it came a little bit, let's call it more exciting as I would.

Today I planned a trip with the bus to the Marin Headlands, stay there 'till sunset and take some awesome pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge at night.

The Marin Headlands are on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. You can find there a tiny lighthouse but also some old artillery places. When you're going more into the interior of the country you would reach the well known sequoia. But this would be too far away for the moment.

The bus I took drives only at weekend and stops near my hotel. Without the bus you only can reach Marin Headlands with a cab, Uber or with your own car. There excists a schedule of this bis line. Why does it excists? Hmmm. I don't know. Is the bus on time? Hmmmm. No. Does the safeness of the stops at every stop is given? Hmmm. Defininetly no. But at this time I didn't had any bad thoughts. But when we reached the stop I hopped out they don't told the stations name I got a little bit nervous and got up from my seat. The driver saw it and stopped the bus for letting me out. Sure this wasn't the stop at the turnaround for the bus also not at the Visitor Center but it is noticed on the schedule. At this moment I had thoughts that it could be possible that you can't get away from this place with the bus. But because I planned to walk down to the turnaround I didn't care about this at this moment.

So I went off to the lighthouse at the most southern point of the Marin Headlands. It is really tiny. You can walk inside it at the bottom but you don't see very much. There isn't more than a board where you can write something and some old pictures. The view of the ocean and the city is amazing.

The trail to the lighthouse is just open on Sundays and Mondays and just between 12.30 am and 3.30 pm. Because I was a little bit late there I had to walk back.

Back at the starting point I saw the old artillery place and saw that the way down to the turnaround was not only very far away it was also rocky, uneven and it would take a lot of time to walk this trail. At this time it began to get dim. So I walked back to the bus station and wanted to wait for the next bus. Actually there should arrive a bus every 60 minute. But after one and a half hours I had some thoughts if it could be that this point isn't a stop after a specific time. As there wasn't still a bus coming I talked to a german family and asked them if it is possible to take me back to the city. Actually I planned to take some night pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge but I after all I don't know if the bus stops at that view point. This family was very kind and took me with them back ti the city, to the Palace of Fine Arts.

So,  I have a very important hint for everyone who plans to visit Marin Headlands: Take your own car!

At the Palace of Fine Arts I waited 'till darkness to take some good night pictures.

The Palaca of Fine Arts is a nothing more than a rotunda. It was built for the Panama.Pacific International Exposition. A World Exposition to celebrate the openening of the Panama Canal.

The rotunda and the surroundings are very famous for weddings and also to take pictures for every event you can imagine.

When I waited for darkness a chinese from L.A. talked to me. He wanted to see the skyline of the city. I told him that it is actually just possible from a ferry and of course from Alcatraz. We talked about some nice places and areas. And he told me that the Chinatown in San Francisco shows China from the end of the 19th century respect. beginning of the 20th century. Because he is from China I believe him. In my mind it isn't known by everyone that these parts of a city like Chinatown which are dedicated to some cultures aren't shown the modern life just instead the past. But i think this isn't as bad because so you can see and maybe fell how it looked and felt like in the past. When you wanna see the modern life of this specific country you can visit it.

It went really cold after a while and I drove nack to my hotel and ended the day.

I don't know if I blog a new report and pictures tomorrow because I didn't planned anything for tomorrow. I wanna have a relaxed last day. So, please don't wonder if there will be nothing.

On Tuesday I will fligh back home and arrive on Wednesday at noon.

I had wonderful weather all the time in San Francisco, saw a lot I haven't seen the last time but there are so many things left to see. But one thing I know after this vacation is: San Francisco is and will be the most beautiful city I've visited yet.

And I'll be back! 😉
